Case Study: Sometimes RIDDORs shock even us!
If a gas appliance is awarded a RIDDOR it must not be used and our engineer has to report it as dangerous. But it's a bit difficult to cap off a non-existent appliance! We thought we'd seen it all but our Boston-based engineer David McVicker did a double-take when he saw this sign above the gas meter. Sure enough, the open gas pipe was found in the kitchen, capped off neatly with some blue tape!
And no, he wasn't able to issue a gas certificate!
