The story of gas-elec group
Since 1996, when gas-elec Safety Systems was launched, pioneering a range of combined gas and electrical safety inspection services, the gas-elec group has continued to move forward with the provision of related products and services nationally throughout the UK. Streamlining these necessary safety inspections, reports and certificates to increase engineers' productivity and therefore reduce costs to clients, gas-elec gained a reputation for delivering honest, impartial results at a fair price.
Now the leader in its field, gas-elec started out within the residential lettings sector, piloting combined gas and electrical safety inspections at a time when the sector considered - erroneously - that only gas inspections were legislated for. It was John Davidson's visionary realisation that the gas and electrical safety regulations of the 1990s had created an opportunity for a new service for the lettings market, in the form of combined inspections by one multi-skilled engineer. The company has since expanded into the homeowner, buyer and seller sectors and now operates in a £2 billion market.

gas-elec offers a trusted and reliable inspection service delivered by regionally located safety inspectors, uniquely qualified to carry out a combination of gas and electrical safety inspections. It does this through a sophisticated nationwide franchise network, comprising 18 regional offices and some 130 franchisees across the UK.
Committed to the highest safety standards, gas-elec's roots go back to the mid-1990s and a Silver Award winning City & Guilds electrical and safety training company. With its own CITB and City & Guilds approved training and assessment centre, gas-elec utilises its significant training experience to ensure its safety inspection engineers are at the forefront of gas and electrical safety issues. In addition, gas-elec supports its engineers by auditing them in the field up to four times a year.
gas-elec has continued to identify important markets for gas and electrical safety inspections, creating tailored offerings for its markets, supported by a bespoke IT system which enables clients to book appointments and view reports online.
Recent innovations have seen gas-elec increase their range of value-added services by offering solutions for landlords and residents . For example, combining an annual boiler service contract with boiler breakdown insurance.
gas-elec is an ISO 9001 registered company, with Gas Safe Register and NICEIC accreditations. The company is registered with ELECSA as a competent firm under Part P of the building regulations, which was introduced in England & Wales in January 2005 to govern electrical safety in the home.
