A photovoltaic system is one that uses Photovoltaic's panels, also known as (PV solar panels), and is a method of generating electrical power by converting solar radiation into direct current electricity (DC). The PV system captures the sun's energy and converts it into a form which can be used to provide a contribution towards our electricity consumption and hot water demands, offering a clean, cost effective, reliable and environmentally-responsible alternative to traditional systems.
Photovoltaic (PV) panels are made up of a group solar cells and when light strikes a cell this will create electricity. Each cell consists of layers of semiconducting material. When a cell catches the sun light an electric field is generated across the layersThe sunnier the day the greater the amount of electricity generated. The electricity generated in full sunlight is measured in kilowatt peak (kWp).
PV panels are usually installed to roofs or walls. The panels are available in a choice of colours and sizes and can be disguised to blend in almost seamlessly and look like your roof tiles . Transparent panels are also available for conservatories, glass rooms and structures.
