John Davidson
Founder and Managing Director

Image of John DavidsonIn the late seventies John launched his own electrical contracting business doing various commercial contracts in and around London. In the mid-eighties after a brief stint working as an electrician on building sites, John started a testing and commissioning business that proved the catalyst for the development of the award-winning training company, EIS Prestige - the forerunner to gas-elec group.

The many and varied inspection services and solutions that gas-elec group offer to the market(s) have been largely designed by John and taken to market through the nationwide franchise network.

In 1995 gas-elec group moved into its current West Drayton Head Offices and in 1996 gas-elec group Safety Systems was born. Today the company carries out more than 120,000 safety inspections in domestic properties throughout the UK.

Through its network of 18 regional offices - with over 126 franchisees - gas-elec group's unique inspection service provides the residential lettings market with multiple inspections of the gas and electrics in just one visit.

Carol Otway
Franchise Director

Image of Carol OtwayCarol joined gas-elec group in July 2001 in Franchise Recruitment and in 2002 was promoted to Franchise Manager.

Carol is responsible for the development and support of the gas-elec group franchise network, which includes regional managers and safety inspection engineers in order to maintain growth and continue to build the national network.

She is also responsible for the management of the network - 126 franchisees across the UK - and the management of gas-elec group's company-owned franchise regions.

Now as Franchise Director, Carol also enjoys interaction with a number of the company's national accounts and the HR responsibilities within the group.

Prior to joining gas-elec group, Carol worked firstly in HR and then for more than ten years in sales, marketing and customer service management within the courier, mail and logistics industries.

Gordon Gosling
Technical Director: Gas

Image of Gordon GoslingWith over 40 years of experience in heating, plumbing and gas, Gordon joined the company first as a consultant and then as a director and shareholder of gas-elec group.

As Technical Director, Gordon is involved in the assessments of new franchisees and also carries out audits on the gas-elec group franchisees across the country. He is also responsible for the implementation of technical updates throughout the Group.

Gordon has run his own heating, plumbing and gas company, and for a few years he worked as a building contractor. During the mid-1990s, he worked abroad to introduce new and innovative products to the Middle East market.

Michael O'Flynn
Operations Director

Image of Mike O'FlynnMike's background is on the electrical side of the business. He joined the company while working on a large contract in London - gas-elec group was working alongside a major electrical contractor on the large commercial installation.

After the completion of the contract, Mike stayed on with gas-elec group taking on the role of managing the electrical technical support, training, certification and records.

More recently, he managed the development of the company's new IT web-based system for the franchise network. Now as Operations Director Mike is responsible for ensuring efficient operation and delivery of the various services to the market and the company's clients.

Barry Hammond, A.C.I.I., M.E.W.I.
Head of Insurance & Compliance

Image of Barry HammondBarry became a consultant to gas-elec group in 2007 with the formation of Safety Insurance Brokers Ltd - an insurance broker regulated by the Financial Services Authority.

Barry has been in insurance broking for over 40 years and has held posts at board level in some of the world's leading insurance brokers.

He specialises in general insurance policies and is an expert witness on insurance-related court cases. He has worked in UK and Australia.

Barry's role is to guide the strategy of the insurance broking business and to explore ways in which cross-selling opportunities can be created to the benefit of gas-elec group's customers.

Peter Cave
Director

Image of Peter CavePeter has assisted the company for over six years as an outside consultant, maintaining compliance to international quality management standards initially BS 5750 and more recently ISO 9001.

He is an experienced management consultant coming from a background in manufacturing in the UK and later on the development of IT systems in Canada. Peter has worked on consulting assignments in all sizes of organisations in the UK, Malaysia and southern Africa for the Commonwealth Secretariat.

Peter now maintains his function of looking after the company's quality management processes and in addition advises in a non-executive director role on all aspects of systems development.
